CASE STUDY: AMANDA

AMANDA

One of our first and most loyal transgender clients at Bloomsbury Transformations wanted to share her experiences with likeminded people... Doesn't she look fabulous? Amanda channelled Heidi Klum and Kate Moss for her bleached bob with an eye-grazing fringe.

A BIT ABOUT AMANDA:

Amanda is a transgendered woman who has recently had surgery, and prior to this she was a loyal customer of Bloomsbury Wigs. Amanda usually wore a long brunette style wig from Bloomsbury prior to facial feminisation surgery, but to suit her gorgeous new features she chose a choppy blonde bob to emphasise her cheekbones, and came to Bloomsbury Transformations to get the system fitted, coloured and styled. Amanda is keen to share her positive experiences at Bloomsbury with other transgender people, and explains why in the video and below:

AMANDA ON HER HAIR SYSTEM:

"My name is Amanda and I came to Bloomsbury to have a hair system put in. I've just had facial feminisation surgery, which i funded myself, and spent about £15000. I'd been coming to Bloomsbury to buy wigs before I had the surgery, which was a good solution because the wigs here are good quality, and the difference is there's a fitting and styling service where I could sit and try wigs, which I have yet to find in any other transgender service. I talked about my surgery with the team here, and they suggested a system - which I didn't know about before. I thought I  had 2 options: wear an expensive wig but not have it feel part of me, which is crucial, or have hair transplants which don't seem particularly effective. I've just had my system fitted - I had some extensions put in with the system which overrides my natural hair and it feels amazing, I don't have the fear I had with a wig that it would fall out, and I think it looks completely natural against my hair, as it was moulded to my head. The system lasts about 3 months and the cost over the year is about the same as a hairdressing bill for a year, so in terms of a natural non invasive procedure, it's the best I've found. There's a team of experts here for colouring, extension fitting and cutting at the end - it's a fantastic one stop shop and I' ve had a really good day."

AMANDA'S TOP TIPS:

Redken hair products are great for maintaining moisture levels in your human hair piece. You can get them in-house at Bloomsbury or look for great deals online on sites like Hqhair.com.

I found I have warm tones rather than cool: I'd been wearing pinks for years, and one of the girls at Bloomsbury suggested I try brown shades in my makeup and I haven't looked back! Find out if you're cool or warm: do you tan easily in the sun? If so, you're likely to be warm-toned like me. Warm tones should stick to browns, golds and bronzes; cool tones suit pinks and peaches.
Belts are the perfect accessory to give your figure curves and a streamlined silhouette. You can pair a belt with almost anything- try wide belts with fitted shirts, thin belts with party dresses...
